A hand sculpted Fire Opal and Diamond Helios Ring set in 18 Carat Yellow Gold.
In the centre of the Ring is a 4.96 Carat Cabochon Fire Opal
set into a motif of the sun on a bed of diamonds.
The shoulders of the ring with carved horses heads resting on night and day.
Representing the Ancient Greek legend of Phaeton who borrowed his fathers chariot and drove it too close to the sun.
The cabochon fire opal with its raise of diamonds represents the sun. The shoulders are engraved with horses heads amongst the heavens both night and day. Hidden inside the lifting top is Phaeton driving the chariot into disaster.
It reminds us that the sun around which we circle and to which we owe our being can both give and take away.
